What it does
A monthly pour for tanks up to 1500 gallons
Platinum is the Rid-X septic liquid sold by the month. Once a month you pour the dose marked on the bottle into the toilet and flush. There is nothing to unwrap and nothing to weigh. It is written for tanks up to 1500 gallons, and the label limits you to one pour a month, so a heavy month does not call for a second pour.
You choose your supply by the bottle. The 3-month and 6-month supplies each come as one bottle, the 6-month one holding 48 fl oz, and the 12-month supply is two of those 6-month bottles. Rid-X calls Platinum its most powerful formula and claims 2x more waste reduction than its own powder, citing a study in the fine print. That claim is the maker's. We have not tested it.

Directions and best results
- Find the dose marking on the bottle before your first pour.
- Pour that single dose into the toilet bowl.
- Flush the toilet to carry the liquid down to the tank.
- Wait a full month before the next dose, since the label allows one a month.
For best results
- Keep to one dose a month, even after a house full of guests, because the label says once a month only.
- Store the bottle capped, out of reach of children and pets, and do not mix it with household cleaners.
- Your tank still needs inspection and pumping on a schedule, and our pumping guide explains how often.

Safety and sources
A monthly dose does not take the place of inspection and pumping. The EPA asks for a professional inspection of a household system at least every three years, and its septic questions page does not recommend additives. Keep the pack sealed and out of reach of children and pets.
Questions
About Rid-X Platinum Septic Tank Treatment, Liquid
How much Rid-X Platinum do you pour each month?
The dose marked on the bottle, once. The label reads "Use only 1x/month", so the pour is a single measured amount, into the toilet bowl and down with a flush. The liquid is written for septic tanks up to 1,500 gallons.
What does Rid-X mean by 2x more waste reduction?
It is the maker's claim for Platinum, compared with Rid-X powder. Fine print on the product photos ties it to a 21 month study against the powder. We have not seen that study or tested the liquid, and no public source we read measured it. Read the figure as the maker's.
Can you pour a second dose of Rid-X Platinum in a busy month?
The label says no: use only once a month. A holiday week does not change that. If heavy use worries you, look at your water habits instead, such as spreading laundry across the week, which the EPA's septic care page suggests.
